Meet Jazmynne Cruz
I started Lap of Lavender in 2018 during a period of transformation; in my identity, my art, and the world around me. As a queer, trans artist of color, I felt the urgency to create something that held both beauty and resistance, both tenderness and truth. What began as a personal refuge became a space to share stories, reclaim rituals, and imagine new ways of belonging through design, writing, and craft.
My work is rooted in legacy; from the inherited trauma of American chattel slavery and the erasure of Indigenous practices to the everyday rituals that have kept us soft, sharp, and surviving. Lap of Lavender is my offering: a container for art, history, and love.
